Sociologists and other scholars of religion convened in Las Vegas for the 2018 meeting of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR). Among the sessions was an author-meets-critics session for my book, Parish and Place: Making Room for Diversity in the American Catholic Church.
Panelists Linh Hoang, Brett Hoover, Nicolette Manglos-Weber, and Lucas Sharma (convened by Maureen Day) offered insightful summaries of the book, influences on their own thinking, and generative questions for future research. I am grateful for their public comments and the opportunity to discuss the book with SSSR conference attendees.
