As always, I had an enriching experience at the annual meetings of SSSR (the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion). My participation this year included:
- Organizing an author-meets-critics session for the new book Catholic Parishes in the 21st Century by Charles E Zech, Jonathon L. Wiggins, Mark M. Gray, Mary L. Gautier, and Thomas P. Gaunt
- Organizing and moderating a panel on issues of work/life balance
- Featuring my new book, Parish and Place: Making Room for Diversity in the American Catholic Church, in the New Book Exhibit / Reception
- Presenting new, original research from my project on “church conversions”
- Serving as the incoming SSSR Treasurer
SSSR is among my favorite organizations and conferences. Join us next Fall in Las Vegas!
