Every writer can benefit from an active reader.
Undergraduate writing centers provide an immense (and often underused) resource for students in every stage of the writing process.
Kudos to the Debby Ellis Writing Center of Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX for 10+ years of excellence in mentoring student writers and, under the exceptional leadership of Dr. Elisabeth Piedmont-Marton, training writing consultants. I’m proud to have been among the first cohort of writing consultants when the center opened in 2000.
Its legacy continues today, as profiled in a recent article on the university’s webpage (in which I am quoted).
