Today’s election of Archbishop Timothy Dolan (Archdiocese of New York) to the top seat in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) caught many by surprise. Most expected the presidency to go to sitting VP, Bishop Gerald Kicanas (Diocese of Tucson), as has been the trend. Dolan will lead the USCCB for the next three years.
Bishop Kicanas chairs the Board of Directors for the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University, where I previously worked as a Research Assistant Professor.http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1004695.htm
