The Paulist Fathers are committed to building bridges across division, both within the Catholic Church and beyond it. I’ve appreciated their ministry efforts for years, and in more recent years, I’ve been invited into advisory conversations to support their ongoing work.

Currently, I’m honored to serve on an Advisory Board for The Communion Project — an initiative by the Paulist Fathers designed to reconcile differences and forge communion in the face of polarization.

Our Advisory Board gathered recently at the Paulist headquarters in Washington, D.C., where we ideated and refined growing initiatives of the Communion Project. Bringing sociological perspectives into this conversation surfaces the lived realities of social divides — something I’ve been committed to doing for years, including in a volume I edited on Polarization in the US Catholic Church and more recent work on abortion attitudes. Thanks to The Paulist Fathers for their leadership and collaboration to take on such an important social challenge.
