A Hank Center workshop at Loyola University Chicago introduced thoughtful new insights, cautions, and deeper interpretations of accounts of a rise in Catholic conversions, especially among young adults. Our panel of sociologists helped make sense of what’s happening (and what’s not), putting notable upticks into relative scale, context, and trajectories through time. I was especially grateful for ways that the workshop situated empirical perspectives alongside lived experiences and public understandings.

Loyola Chicago offers a spectacular backdrop for any conversation about the contemporary Church! Grateful for the opportunity to present and to support the Hank Center as it “cultivates, connects, and integrates Roman Catholic thought and practice” through timely programming.
