An exciting day: I got to hold a copy of my newest book for the first time!

Our Lives: What Abortion Attitudes Reveal About Who We Are As Americans will release officially with the University of California Press in just a few weeks. The book carries years of research and thinking and, most importantly, words and stories from hundreds of everyday Americans across spectrums of ideology, geography, religion, generation, and personal experience. Unlike most books on abortion attitudes that stick to survey statistics (while useful!), Our Lives goes instead to where people say they are in their own words. Listening to everyday Americans reveals a kind of messiness and complexity that does not map well onto just two attitude labels or advocacy positions.
I wrote this book to share something real about how people think and feel about an important, sometimes intimate, social issue. I hope you’ll read it to learn and think more, together. Enter “UCPSAVE30” for a discounted preorder copy.
