The Synod on Synodality reignited vital conversations about women’s leadership in the Church — conversations in need of more (and more widely shared) data on where women are and aren’t, and what possibilities Canon Law permits even when current patterns don’t always reflect this in practice.

Thanks to Georgetown University’s Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life for bringing together a thoughtful and diversely situated group of women across Catholic sectors to contemplate where we are and what’s ahead. The conversation felt especially timely in light of the release of the final report from the Synod on Synodality’s Study Group Five: On women’s participation in the life and leadership of the Church. Worth a read — and worth steps to continue this research, understanding, and application to lived practices in Catholicism.
