Great to connect with emerging scholars from the American Academy of Religion for a virtual panel on “Bridging Academy with Community.” Organizer Hans Gustafson brought together a great set of panelists with diverse experiences connecting their work on religion to practical applications including the law, community-based participatory action research, media, and more.

I welcome any chance to share about our potential as scholars to enact, translate, and activate scholarship well beyond the classroom. I prioritize this in my own work and encourage others to seek out opportunities to do the same. Thanks to the AAR for hosting, and to the emerging scholars who attended for thinking creatively about how to use their PhD and unique skill set in studying religion.
